We take the time to explain the difference between vanity and small press as well as providing the “do’s” and “don’ts” of publishing.

• Writers aspiring to get their first novel out into the marketplace.

• Writers who have absolutely no clue about the publishing process, who are willing to learn from seasoned professional, who have gained viable knowledge working in the very marketplace that the author their self will soon find themselves in.
• Writers who want honest and straightforward answers from someone who will have a vested interest in their success in the marketplace.

Bearhead Publishing is a publishing house that strives on educating the author, because it is the authors that will ultimately determine the success or failure of Bearhead Publishing. For Bearhead Publishing, working with new authors is the lifeblood of our business, not just the profit center of a bigger enterprise or someone who dabbles in other business ventures and are not fully committed to the publishing business.

Why would I need it?

Any writer aspiring to get their manuscript into novel form and into the marketplace needs to do their due diligence before signing a contract with any agent/publisher. There is a lot of fraud and thievery in the publishing industry, and a new author, who is green as grass to the process, stand to lose more than they gain if they are not well advised/educated on how the process works and especially what to seek and what to avoid like the plague (i.e. publishers that present themselves as traditional publishers but charge an arm and a leg for marketing packages/publicist services.)

How do you charge?

Bearhead Publishing provides publishing consulting free of charge. We want writers and new aspiring authors to be well advised and full of facts before they ever place the first pen stroke on our publishing contract or book ordering form.

From time to time, Bearhead Publishing is also asked to speak to writers groups on the publishing process. On these occasions, we may ask to be reimbursed for traveling expenses.
