Sissy Marlyn

Sissy MarlynSissy Marlyn began as the pen name for the writing team of two very dear friends, Mary C. Drechsel and Faye Lynn Woods. How did they come up with the name Sissy Marlyn? Obviously, the Marlyn is just a combination of their first names. As to the Sissy, that comes from Lynn nicknaming Mary her little sissy. Lynn always wished for a sister (but only had a brother), so Mary has become her surrogate sister. Enough with the intro, let’s move on to more info about who Sissy Marlyn was and has become.

Mary was a very imaginative child and always loved to spin stories. Her parents thought she was a well-behaved child, because she would sit so quietly in church. Little did they know that sweet, innocent Mary was making up stories (some of them rather wild) about all of their fellow parishioners.

Mary officially began to write when she was eight years old. She discovered an old, manual Royal typewriter in the basement and taught herself to type on it (with the help of her older brother and sister’s typing manual). After this, it was story, story, story! There was no stopping her!

Mary eventually graduated up to a Brother word processor. It was on this gadget that Mary attempted to write her first novel. Her nephew finally convinced her to buy a computer.

Mary’s parents, however, were not supportive of her writing talent. So Mary entered the business world and took a “job” at a large banking institution. She stayed at this job for years. However, Mary’s heart still belonged to writing. In her free time, she would still create many wonderful stories.
